Tributary Farm is a 27 acre farm located in High Falls, NY that specializes in vegetables, small fruits, and honey. We are firm believers in triple bottom line business practices and measure success by our ability to maintain soil and ecosystem health, sustain a healthy and diverse client base, and run a financially viable business. 2018 was our first season in business and we focused on cover cropping to prepare for future fertility as well as growing 1 acre of vegetables for the New Paltz farmer’s market, local area restaurants and farm stands. We are currently working on infrastructure to help us grow including a prorogation green house and a wash and pack barn. For the 2019 season we are adding a Summer CSA, a small farm shop, and a winter market. In 2018 we were certified naturally grown and we are currently applying for organic certification. We would be honored to serve you!
What’s in a Name – Why Tributary Farm?
A tributary is defined as a river or stream flowing into a larger river or lake.
· Our farm is located on the Rondout creek, which is a tributary of the Hudson river.
· Each tributary plays a small role in the health of the entire watershed as they all end up flowing together. We see our farm in a similar way, responsible for maintaining and enhancing it’s small part in the ecosystem, but part of a much larger whole.
Tribute has various meanings, but we think about it everyday it in the sense of a gift or service showing respect, gratitude, or affection.
· We are grateful to many people for the opportunity to farm on such a beautiful and bountiful piece of land. We are grateful to so many helping hands in the process, to the wildlife that we share the farm with, and to any customer for the chance to serve our community with fresh food.
